When you use School Progress, we collect:

• Account Information: Name, school email, and Google profile picture (provided by Google OAuth)
• Academic Data: School selection, graduation year, class enrollments, and schedules you create
• Customization: Custom theme colors and UI preferences
• Usage Data: Page visits and feature usage (via Google Analytics) to improve the service
• Referral Information: If you use a referral link

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate School Progress
• Display your personalized schedule and academic data
• Improve features and fix bugs
• Understand how people use the service (via analytics)
• Communicate with you about your account or the service

We will NEVER sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

School Progress uses these third-party services:

• Google OAuth: For secure sign-in. Google provides your name, email, and profile picture. We never see or store your Google password.
• Google Analytics: To track how people use the site (page views, clicks, etc.) so we can improve it.

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with anyone for marketing or advertising.

4. Cookies

We use cookies (small files stored on your device) for:

• Keeping you logged in
• Remembering your preferences and theme
• Analytics (Google Analytics)

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not work properly.

5. Data Security

We take security seriously:

• Data is encrypted both in storage (AES-256) and in transit (SSL/TLS)
• Your Google password is never stored or accessed
• Data is stored in secure data centers in Oregon, United States

While we do our best to protect your data, no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong password and keep your Google account secure.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is stored as long as your account is active. To delete your account and all associated data, email account-deletion@schoolprogress.app.

Some data may be retained temporarily for legal or security purposes, but your personal information will be permanently deleted.

7. Your Privacy Rights

You can:

• View and update your information in your account settings
• Request a copy of your data
• Delete your account and data at any time
• Stop using School Progress whenever you want

California Residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what data we collect, delete your data, and opt-out of data sales (we don't sell data).

8. Children's Privacy

School Progress is for users aged 13 and older. If you're under 13, please don't use this service. If we discover a user is under 13, we'll delete their account immediately. Parents can contact contact@schoolprogress.app with concerns.

9. Security Breaches

If there's ever a data breach affecting your information, we'll notify you by email within 72 hours and explain what happened, what data was affected, and what steps to take.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally. When we do, we'll update the date at the top. Continued use of School Progress means you accept the updated policy.
